गुप्त साम्राज्य का इतिहास भाग-२ का संछिप्त विवरण : धर्मशास्त्रों में यह स्पष्ट रूप से उल्लिखित मिलता है कि अदायिक मृत व्यक्ति की सम्पत्ति का मालिक राजा होता था | परन्तु किसका कौन दायाद था या कोन सम्पत्ति अदायिक समझी जाती थी, इस विषय में निश्चित सिद्धान्त नहीं है तथा समय-समय पर इसका तात्पर्य बदलता गया। गुप्तकालीन स्मृतिकार याज़वल्क्य ने तो मृत पुरुष की पत्नी अथवा अन्य व्यक्तियों के पुत्रहीन पुरुष की सम्पत्ति का अधिकारी बतलाया है………
