हिंदी-गद्य पुस्तक का कुछ अंश : हिंदी-गद्य-साहित्य के जन्म और विकास की कथा अनेक उलझने उपस्थित करती है | पद्च जिस तरह सुरक्षित रहा, उस तरह गद्य सुरक्षित नहीं रह सका | इस कारण हमारे उपलब्ध गद्य-साहित्य में बीच-बीच में बड़े पोले स्थान है | जब तक नै खोजो के द्वारा इन बीच के रिक्त स्थानों को हम भर नहीं लेते, तब तक हिंदी-गद्य-साहित्य का व्यवस्थित इतिहास लिखा जाना असंभव है………
